1. Purpose of Services
Midwife & Me provides childbirth education classes designed to support individuals and families with general information relating to pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period.
All classes, materials, discussions and demonstrations delivered by Midwife & Me are provided for educational and informational purposes only.
The services offered are not intended to diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice and do not constitute clinical care.
2. General Information Only
All information provided through Midwife & Me courses, written materials, digital content, and discussions is general in nature and may not be suitable for every individual pregnancy or medical circumstance.
Participants acknowledge that:
The information provided is not personalised medical advice
It does not replace the advice, care or treatment provided by a qualified healthcare professional
Participants should seek individual advice from their own healthcare provider before making decisions relating to their pregnancy, labour, birth or postnatal care.
Participants are encouraged to discuss any topics covered within the course with their chosen healthcare provider, including their obstetrician, midwife, general practitioner (GP), or other relevant health professional.
Participation in a Midwife & Me course does not establish a patient–provider or clinical relationship between participants and the educator.
3. Individual Responsibility for Health Decisions
Participants remain responsible for all healthcare decisions relating to their pregnancy and birth.
Midwife & Me does not assume responsibility for medical decisions made by participants based on information presented during classes.
Participants acknowledge that they will continue to follow the guidance, care plan and recommendations provided by their own healthcare provider.
4. Practical Demonstrations and Physical Participation
Midwife & Me classes may include demonstrations and optional practical components, which may include:
Labour and birth positions
Comfort techniques for labour
Movement and mobility exercises
Breathing or relaxation techniques
Use of equipment such as birth balls, mats or cushions
Participation in these activities is entirely voluntary.
By choosing to participate, participants acknowledge that:
They participate at their own discretion and risk
They are responsible for assessing their own physical capability to participate
They will cease participation if they experience pain, discomfort, dizziness, or any other concerning symptoms
They should consult their healthcare provider if unsure whether participation is appropriate for them
Midwife & Me accepts no liability for injury, loss, or adverse outcomes arising from voluntary participation in practical activities during the course, except where liability cannot be excluded under Australian law.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Midwife & Me, its representatives, educators and affiliates will not be liable for any injury, loss, damage, or adverse outcomes arising from:
Reliance on information provided within courses or materials
Personal decisions made by participants based on course information
Participation in optional practical activities during classes
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights that participants may have under the Australian Consumer Law, including guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Acknowledgement and Acceptance
By enrolling in, attending, or participating in a Midwife & Me course, participants acknowledge and agree that they:
Understand the educational nature of the services provided
Understand that the information presented does not replace medical advice
Will consult their healthcare provider regarding their individual care
Accept responsibility for their participation in any voluntary practical activities

7. Photography, Recording & Social Media
From time to time, Midwife & Me may take photographs or short video recordings during classes for educational, promotional, or marketing purposes, including use on websites or social media platforms.
Participants will always be asked for consent before any identifiable images are used publicly.
Participants are welcome to take personal photographs during the course; however, they agree to respect the privacy of other attendees and must not photograph, record, or share images of other participants without their consent.
8. Booking, Cancellation & Refund Policy
Course places are confirmed upon payment of the applicable course fee.
Due to limited class sizes and preparation required for each session:
Bookings are non-refundable once confirmed.
Participants may request to transfer their booking to a future course date, subject to availability and with reasonable notice (recommended minimum 48 hours prior to the course start time).
In the event that Midwife & Me must cancel or reschedule a course due to unforeseen circumstances, participants will be offered either:
a full refund, or
the option to transfer to a future course date.
Midwife & Me is not responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants (such as travel or accommodation) related to course attendance.
9. Partner/Support Person Participation & Safety
Participants are welcome to attend Midwife & Me classes with a partner or chosen support person.
All attendees are expected to:
Treat other participants with respect and courtesy
Follow any safety instructions provided during demonstrations or activities
Maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Midwife & Me reserves the right to ask any participant or attendee to discontinue participation in activities, or leave the session, if behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate.
Midwife & Me reserves the right to update or amend these policies at any time to ensure the safe and effective delivery of services.
